Hunter Cattle wins Flavor of Georgia Award
Hunter Cattle Co. of Brooklet has won first place in the meat product category of the University of Georgia’s Flavor of Georgia competition.
This annual statewide event took place at the Georgia Freight Depot in Atlanta during the governor’s annual agricultural awareness week. Food products from across the state are judged and critiqued by a panel of food experts.
Entries are judged based on flavor, best use of Georgia ingredients, Georgia theme, unique or innovative qualities, commercial appeal and originality.
“It’s an honor to be recognized as having a great product. We work very hard to produce healthy, high-quality food — in this case our pork sausage,” said Del Ferguson, who works the farm with his wife, Debra, and two children.
Hunter Cattle pasture raises beef, pork, lamb, poultry and eggs and handcrafts the meat products in the family farm store.
